Experts Discuss State of NJ Economy
and Potential Impact of Tax Reforms

Somerset County Business Partnership members heard from Chief Economist Charles Steindel of the New Jersey Treasury Department and Gary Bingel, SCBP member and EisnerAmper partner at a breakfast entitled "Tax Reform to Make NJ More Competitive."  Among the key points covered at this breakfast, hosted by Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., were:

  • NJ's economy is slowly recovering, jobs are being added, and tax revenues are increasing;
  • Recent bi-partisan tax reform have been effective and have helped to improve our business climate;
  • Both speakers indicated that New Jersey's tax climate is one factor resulting in people and wealth leaving New Jersey; and
  • The general view was that a simplified tax code would make New Jersey more competitive.

This event is just one example of the many opportunities Business Partnership members have to hear from respected experts about issues that can make or break their businesses.
