NJ Senate President Sweeney to Meet with Somerset County Business Community
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset County Employers Legislative Committee (ELC) will host New Jersey Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney (D-3) at a luncheon scheduled for Friday, November 30, 2018. The luncheon meeting will take place at Verve Bistro, Bar, & Lounge, 18 East Main Street in Somerville from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Senator Sweeney will discuss his proposals to fix New Jersey’s economy based on the conclusions of the “Path to Progress New Jersey” prepared by the NJ Economic and Fiscal Policy Workgroup.
The Workgroup was charged with a broad mission to “identify ways to address soaring pension and benefit costs, hold down property taxes, make state and local government and school districts more efficient, assess the equity and efficiency of the state and local tax structure, leverage the value of state assets, and mitigate the negative impact of the federal tax law that targeted high-cost states.”
Sen. Sweeney currently serves as Senate President and General Vice-president of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union.
“Senator Sweeney has been a strong leader in the Senate, working well on both sides of the aisle,” commented Carol Bianchi, co-chair of the Somerset County ELC. “He enjoys a depth of knowledge and extensive experience in the workings of State Government and should provide great insight into solutions to some of our State’s problems.”
Registration is $30 and includes lunch. A cash bar will be available. Seating is limited and participants are encouraged to register online by Friday, November 23, 2018 at https://bit.ly/11-30elc.
Payment may be made online by credit card or by check made out to the Somerset County Business Partnership. A voucher can be mailed ahead in the name of Somerset County ELC to the Somerset County Business Partnership, 360 Grove Street, Bridgewater, New Jersey 08807.
