The mission of the Somerset County Business Partnership is to lead the business community to a prosperous and sustainable future. The effectiveness of the SCBP is the result of a partnership among Somerset County’s major employers, small and medium-sized business, nonprofit organizations, Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, and the 21 local municipalities. The Board of Directors represents the SCBP’s various constituencies and is intended to provide a platform for Board members to influence the ongoing program of work. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SCBP is a small team of paid staff, led by the President/CEO.
The Board of Directors meets four times per year at various locations throughout Somerset County. Board members are expected to attend meetings, familiarize themselves with the Business Partnership work program, and give input into how the Business Partnership can achieve its mission. Board members are requested to use the Business Partnership as a resource that their company can use to grow in Somerset County. Board members are also expected to represent the interests of their company, with the understanding that under the bylaws, any decision made by the Board of Directors is not binding on the member companies in any way.
