Resource Groups

The Somerset County Business Partnership Resource Groups are designed to provide venues for business people to come together from companies of like sizes, industries and professions to network, exchange ideas, gain new business strategies and to influence the SCBP’s agenda. Don’t see what you need? Members are also encouraged to initiate any committee, task force or special interest group as long as it falls within the mission of the SCBP.

Women in Business

Women in Business is directed at the specific needs and challenges women face in the business world. Its purpose is for women to learn more about other businesses and how they can support one another. Focus areas include career, networking, finances, mind, body, society and family.

Minority Business Leaders Roundtable

The MBLR was formed to bring information and resources to minority business owners and professionals. We work to improve communication of opportunities available to minority businesses owners to do business with both public and private sector businesses; providing this mostly overlooked population the chance to be considered. We also look to provide opportunities for minority business leaders to grow their network and add value to the business community.

Financial Services

The mission of the FiSIG is to educate the SCBP members on issues affecting their personal and professional financial lives, so often intertwined in small- and mid-sized businesses. The group meets regularly to discuss economic and legislative issues that may impact business and/or personal profitability, share best practices and offer educational workshops.

Emerging Leaders

The Emerging Leaders of Somerset County was founded with the goal of identifying, engaging, and empowering the next generation of business professionals. As a sponsored initiative of the Somerset County Business Partnership, the Emerging Leaders board meets three times a year. Each meeting will have a speaker from a leader within the community.

Human Resources Roundtable

Human Resources Roundtable gives value back to members of the SCBP by providing a resource to obtain information from people who specialize in the Human Resource arena. The group consists of individuals who have primary responsibility for hiring, firing, providing day to day direction to employees and are responsible to address any employee conflict or inquiries by government agencies. Health and Welfare Benefits will also be an area in which the HR Roundtable provides discussion and direction.

NonProfit Council

The Somerset County Business Partnership established a Nonprofit Council to provide a platform to support our nonprofit members. The goal of the council is to serve as a resource for our 80+ nonprofit members, providing educational opportunities and a supportive venue to share ideas and happenings affecting the nonprofit community.

Sustainable Somerset

The Sustainable Somerset special interest group plans and develops programs focused on clean energy, energy audits, the legal aspects of ‘green’, and other subjects promoting a brighter, cleaner future. This group helps promote member companies that have either expertise or interest in these areas as well as encourage a partnership with the Somerset County Energy Council in the promotion of sustainability. Sustainable Somerset is also responsible for funding opportunities with utility companies and the NJ BPU programs.

Warren Township Chamber

Launched in January 2022, the new Warren Township Chamber of Commerce is a special interest group of the Somerset County Business Partnership. The goal of the Warren Township Chamber of Commerce is to have businesses and the Warren Township Administration work together in making the Township of Warren a better place for its businesses and its people. The Warren Township Chamber of Commerce meets every 4th Thursday of the month.

Leads Groups

We invite you to come together to build relationships and help grow your business through entering one of our Leads Groups. People do business with people they know, like and trust. The Leads Groups help you establish credibility, build your contact list and obtain quality business referrals.

Leads groups meet twice per month and are represented by one person per profession.

The meeting agenda is as follows:

  • (20 Minutes) Each attendee spends one minute talking about his/her business and “A good lead for me is…” (this will be timed so as to allow everyone an equal opportunity to speak)
  • (20 Minutes) One designated member gives a presentation on how they get new customers followed by Q&A
  • (10 Minutes) “Leads, Needs and Thank You’s”
  • (10 Minutes) Group Sharing of suggestions, ideas obtained during discussions

Group Requirements

In order to join a Leads Group, members of the Somerset County Business Partnership must:

  • Be a dues-paid member of the Business Partnership
  • Promote a business category not already promoted by another Leads Member within that group
  • Commit to regular attendance.

Waiting lists are maintained since some business categories are more popular than others.

Current Group

The SCBP is currently offering two Leads Groups.

  • Leads Group will meet the 2nd  and 4th Mondays, 10 – 11 AM. This meeting is Hybrid.
  • (New!) Partnership+ meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 10-11AM. This group meets in person.
